The MPHS Annual meeting is scheduled for Sunday January 21st 2018 at 1pm at the United Methodist Church, 400 Doty Street, Mineral Point.  As part of its order of business, the MPHS Board of Directors will ask the membership to approve the adoption of new bylaws, which follow the guidelines set forth by the Wisconsin State Historical Society.

Why?  MPHS operates as a non-profit corporation affiliated with the Wisconsin Historical Society within the provisions of Chapter 181 and Section 44.03 of the Wisconsin Statutes.  Back in the early 1990s the format and language of our bylaws were written to comply with the Wisconsin Historical Society guidelines.  The State Historical Society recently updated their “model” bylaws document which outline more easily applied guidelines for an organization our size.

What are we asking membership to do? 

  1. Read the proposed bylaws to remain informed about the organization’s governance. Go to and click the Bylaws tab.  You will find links to both the current bylaws and the proposed bylaws.
  2. Vote on the adoption of the proposed bylaws at the Annual Meeting on January 21st, 2018
